| Continental acquires Siemens VDO |

Siemens, Europe's largest engineering company by sales said on Jul. 25th that it will sell its VDO auto-parts unit to German rival Continental AG for €11.4 billion ($15.64 billion). A merger of Continental and VDO, still subject to regulatory approval, would make Continental the world's fifth-largest auto-parts supplier by sales after the complete merger is finished in Q4, 2009. (7-26-2007) Comments: by this merger, a restructuring act in auto-parts market, the two companies will incorporate the most advanced global auto supplier, and more high technologies will be applied on autos and auto-parts price will drop. This is the second key acquisition conducted by Continental after its acquiring Motorola auto electronics unit last year. The company is heading for the role of a supplier of complete integrated systems.
