First International Telematics Organization Set Up

GTF, the first international telematics organization in the world, was announced to be founded in Seoul of Korea on Oct. 30th. GTF is a nonprofit organization, the establishment of which is driven by the efforts of Connected Vehicle Trade Association (CVTA), European Commission on Transport Telematics in Europe, AEEMA, and Korea Telematics Business Association (KOTBA). It is committed to advance the exchange, technical cooperation, and knowledge sharing about telematics around the world. GTF will organize international meetings or events periodically to promote the cooperation and exchanges among its members.

Comment: AutoNavi, the largest digital navigation map provider in China, invited as the representative from China and one of the observers, attended the GTF foundation meeting and presented a report on the current status of the Chinese telematics market. Although the Chinese telematics market is not mature enough, the most robust area in the global telematics market in the next eight years will come from Asia Pacific, especially China, with the driving factors of the booming Chinese automotive industry, consumer demands, and push of international giant players. The track “Telematics System” at NaviForum Shanghai 2007 will present to the navigation industrial insiders with more interesting and eye-catching information.
