Garmin Launches GPS Mobile Phone nuvifone

Garmin has recently released its first mobile phone, the nuvifone, which features a 3.5-inch touchscreen and the built-in operating system & GPS navigation system developed by itself. The nuvifone not only provides map search, map browse, and personal navigation functions but also provides Google local search functions. The built-in camera allows users to take a picture that will automatically be tagged with the exact latitude and longitude reference of where the image is taken.

Comment: With Audi, Apple Inc, and Google launching mobile phones in succession, PND providers can’t wait to launch GPS-enabled mobile phones. Especially after Nokia began to produce PNDs, Mio and Garmin, two of the world’s three largest PND providers, surely must take actions to beat Nokia back. TomTom may be the next one to launch mobile phones.
