| France: Insurance Companies to Offer Telematics Services through IMA |
| |
Two French insurance companies, MACIF and MAIF, are hoping to offer monitored telematics services with the help of Inter Muetuelle Assistance (IMA). The services “Sygéo” by MACIF and “Virgile” by MAIF will offer automatic and manual e-calls, road assistance, and vehicle recovery. Both services will be available for a one time fee of €100 for installation and parts and €20 per month for the service. These services are planned to be available in May 2008. In addition, two companies hope for 300,000 units (or 1% of the vehicles in France) to be installed by 2012.
Comment: In addition to OEMs, telecom operators, and independent TSPs, insurance companies are another possible type of TSPs. Telematics services provided by insurance companies are still blank in China.
