M3 is available to anyone in London with a web-enabled mobile device. Users can post their profiles and pictures, create albums, post updates on their locations and activities, search for other M3 users based on their locations, make free “double blind” calls to people they want to know better (M3’s feature that allows users to speak to one another without revealing identities) and attend parties. They can also block other users they do not wish to receive messages. M3 promises to introduce “Groups” services in the future. Users can create and join groups and invite others to join. It is reported that M3 plans to launch this kind of service in New York in May 2008.

Comment: Mobile social networking service is soaring around the globe. “My Location” of Google, “Gypsii” launched jointly by Finland-based GeoSentric and China Unicom, and “bedo” (www.bedo.com) provided by Peptalk Technologies are all new rising mobile social networking service platforms. This kind of service will also be launched on Apple iphone. All these are good examples of map products for web and mobile applications, but the future business model of mobile social networking websites need be explored.
