| Panasonic Strada Brand Debuts in China |
| |
At Beijing AutoShow, Panasonic Automotive Systems Company launched its latest portable vehicle navigation device CN-VX109H under the Strada brand name. The CN-VX109H features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with easy operation. Several appearance color modes are designed for the device to match vehicles of different colors. CN-VX109H can provide 3D map display and 3D amplified display of complex road sections. It also provides built-in inquiry services for tourist sites. Strada series in-dash GPS device has been developing in China for a long period. Strada series PND is a new product line promoted this April in China.
Comment: Panasonic is a powerful brand that leads both embedded and aftermarket vehicle navigation. Though Japanese navigation providers have got remarkable achievements around the globe, they have not achieved what they expected in China at after market segment. Following the launch of PND products in China by Alpine, Panasonic promotes its own PND products to force into the portable navigation industry. Japan may be the world’s only market where in-vehicle navigation terminals overrun portable navigation terminals and thus it seems that it’s not competitive advantage for Japanese venders to deal with portable navigation. All the industry will wait and see whether Panasonic will bring great surprise with its PND.
