ABI Research: OnStar Ranked Top Consumer Telematics Vendor

OnStar has been ranked at the top of the latest Consumer Telematics Vendor Matrix released by ABI Research today. BMW and Nissan claimed the second and third spots in this ranking. The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors' positions in specific markets. Vendors are assessed by ABI Research on the important parameters of “innovation” and “implementation” across several criteria unique to each vendor matrix.

Comment: The specific assessment criteria parameters used by ABI Research are not known to us, but we know that renowned G-Book, Internavi and Sync fail to rank top three. Sync of Ford Motor has become a hot topic because its users have exceeded 100,000 within seven months after being launched. Honda Internavi users have exceeded 660,000. Toyota G-Book has even more users and will come into China market soon. Telematics in fact reflects the ultimate strategic target of automakers. Car dealers and telematics subscribers can only see superficial things and can never realize the actual value of telematics to automakers. Telematics is like wearing shoes, only the feet know whether comfortable or not.
