China Tops U.S. Broadband Totals
 
According to the latest numbers compiled by telecoms consultant and research house Dittberner Associates, China ended the first quarter of the year with a year-on-year 28% increase to 71,6 million broadband subscribers, 1.4 million more than the U.S which has a year-over-year 12% increase. A year ago the U.S. had been on top. The global broadband subscribers in Q1 hit 355 million, up 5% over the same period in 2007. Cable operators are also tapping into the broadband service market. The number of broadband subscribers in China is expected to continue taking the lead.
