| Microsoft Wants to Put Live Search inside Cars |
| |
Microsoft has announced the immediate availability of Microsoft Live Search for Devices, the first of many new services for its automotive platforms. Live Search for Devices enables partners to develop applications, including local search services, for in-vehicle infotainment. Live Search for Devices will be available for easier implementation in Microsoft’s automotive platforms, Windows Automotive and future releases of Microsoft Auto. Microsoft has launched a new companywide “software + services” business strategy. The company foresees that the Internet will soon enter the automobile like in other aspects of a consumer’s life. Microsoft already provides software used by Ford and Fiat, as well as in navigation systems from certain Japanese manufacturers.
Comment: Nowadays, while Connected Vehicle is prevailing, it’s no longer a walking dream for people to enjoy quality Internet services inside their cars. Microsoft is behind Google in Internet services but it never ignores this market of enormous potentiality. The completion with Google has made Microsoft get more knowledge about the services. As mainstream automakers develop Telematics systems emulatively and pave the way for Telematics services, it’s the very right time for Microsoft to launch Live Search for Devices.
