| 38% Smartphones Have GPS in EMEA |

In a report published on Friday last week, market research firm Canalys said 38% of Smartphones shipped in Europe, Middle East and Africa in the second quarter of this year have GPS. EMEA Smartphone shipments reached 12.6 million in Q2 2008, up 28% on the figure one year ago. 4.788 million Smartphones with GPS have been shipped in the region during this quarter, and 4.8 million PNDs have been shipped in EMEA in Q2. Mobile phones are quickly catching up as the leading GPS-enabled device category. Nokia remained the market leader (71% market share), and other vendors in the top five are RIM (7.2%), HTC (7%), Motorola (3.4%) and Samsung (3.2%).
