In-vehicle Navigation Consumer Market will Double Each Year
 

NavigationForum 2006 is to open in Shanghai on Nov. 16th
Reportedly, the forum is co-organized by the organizers are Department of High & New Tech. Development and Industrialization, Ministry of Science and Technology; Department of Map Management, State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping; and Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipal People's Government. More than 200 Chinese and foreign companies/institutions will participate in the event. Over 50 car vendors in China will join the discussion, engaging car manufacture and even covering the whole navigation industrial chain. 
The satellite navigation technology was introduced to China at late 1980s', and along its value chain, there are digital mapping publishers, navigator makers, in-vehicle terminal vendors, operation centers, positioning platform suppliers, etc. The technology is now widely applied in automobile positioning monitor and other fields. After over 10 years'  research and productive evolution, the navigation industry of China has basically grown into a high-tech industry with virtuous cycle. It is evaluated that navigation industry consumer market is as large as nearly ten billions annually, and will expand in a rate of 200%~300% per year. 
It is known that the digital navigation map, as the key of navigation products, is boosting by demands for automotive, individual, and internet navigation products. Digital navigation map can provide a full range of traffic and road information in details, as well as POI (such as stations, banks, hospitals, hotels, gas stations, featured restaurants, etc) search service.
